The Red Brick Bulletin (「赤れんが通信」英語版)
In order to promote the internationalization of Hokkaido and increase the opportunities for
cultural exchange, the International Affairs Division of the Hokkaido Government publishes
the Red Brick Bulletin. Published in Japanese, English, Mandarin Chinese, and Korean, the
Red Brick Bulletin features articles from CIRs (Coordinators for International Relations) about
Hokkaido, Hokkaido’s sister regions, Hokkaido’s international exchange, and more.

January 2025 - To the South Hokkaido Railway!
In this edition of the Red Brick Bulletin, we’re reporting on the South Hokkaido Railway!
Featuring the wonders of the railway, the story of the Hokutosei Sleeper Train, Japan’s first
Trappist Monastery, and the freezing Kanchu Misogi Festival, read about our impressions
of South Hokkaido and this local railway.
We’re also updating you about Hokkaido’s International Exchange, introducing four of
Hokkaido’s sister regions, the Marude T-Shirt and Designer Exhibition, and a Christmas
Hawaiian Fair, as well as a JET Programme participant living in Hokkaido in the JET Spotlight.
